This production constitutes the first U.S. Cuban theater play to be produced in Cuba after 1959, and this is the first time a primarily U.S. Cuban thteater group traveled to the island. Although the press stated that this was "the first time an American theatre company has toured the communist nation," the first group to do so was Teatro de la Esperanza. Repertorio Español also presented Revoltillo in Matanzas' Teatro Sauto and Las Villas' Teatro de la Caridad.
