In Michael Ende's novel, Momo is a mysterious young orphan who lives in a ruined ampitheater in an unnamed metropolis. Her extraordinary ability to listen draws people, particularly other children, to her and she has many wonderful friends. Everything starts to change when the Men in Gray appear and began to take over the city. Momo goes on a quest to determine who these sinister, shadowy figures really are and what they have done with her friends. Her journey takes here across the frontiers of time to the secret fountainhead of life itself.
