The Legend... was especially written for children attending elementary school. It is a parable aimed to teach that learning and sharing are treasures to be found only by those who cultivate curiosity. The play's protagonist is the child, Chomiha, who is sent on a mission by Gucumatz to find the golden coffee bean, which will bring her wealth. This search sends her from country to country in Latin America, with the result that she learns about the cultures of each country. The play includes song, dance, and pantomime and it teaches children geography.
