This play was inspired by two events: the kidnapping of two Spanish missionaries, and the news coverage concerning the investigation led by Scotland Yard and the Argentine military with respect to the Maldive War. The script available at the University of Miami contains the stage directions outlined by the playwright as well as reflections on the play written by the playwright entitled "La oreja militar, una reflexión del autor."
