Ulises Rodríguez Febles

Director, author / playwright

2004 winner of Cuba's Virgilio Piñera Playwright Prize, and Spain's Margarita Xirgú. His play The concert has been selected for publication and production at the Royal Court Theatre in London. He has a B.A. in Spanish literature and diplomas in Children's Theater and Puppet Theater from Havana's Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana. As a researcher, he is part of the advisory board of Matanzas' Sauto Theater and the studio/gallery El Retablo. As playwright, actor and director, he has worked with the Matanzas' theater groups Teatro D´ Sur, El Mirón Cubano y Papalote. While he was director of the theater group ACTUS at the University of Matanzas, he won several prizes and participated in several international university theater festivals. He has taught History, Playwrighting and Literature and Aesthetics. He has also written and directed television programs dedicated to theater, and has participated in several playwrighting workshops with Cuban and U.S. professors as well as in the Royal Court Theatre's International Playwrighting Wokshop. Currently, he directs the Israel Moliner Rendón Center for Performing Arts Documentation in Matanzas, and he directs its digital publication.
