Jorge Luis Cacheiro

Director, assistant to the director

Jorge Luis Cacheiro For the last decade and a half, he has worked as a professional actor and director at the Off-Broadway and regional level. His extensive credits include direction of plays at Circle Repertory Company, INTAR, The Kitchen, Naked Angles, New York Theater Workshop, La Mama, Magic Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, BACA, Sundance Theater Institute and London's Putney and McGowan Theaters. He has directed premieres of works by playwrights such as Harry Kondoleon and Eduardo Machado. He has directed his own works Paradise Negative and Last Tango in New Wango.

As a film maker, Mr. Cacheiro works as both writer and director. His film American Kiss is in development with Paramount Pictures. His film East of L.A. was produced by Reflex Films. Currently in production is Roberto and Carlos. He served as Artistic Director for Tango Productions Co. from 1987 to 1993. This award winning company was dedicated to creating new works for theater, film and music. He also curated New Stages at INTAR, the first Latino Performance Art Festival at a major Off-Broadway theater.

Mr. Cacheiro holds an MFA in Production from USC School of Film and an MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama. He has also studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, South Coast Repertory Conservatory, National Shakespeare Company Conservatory, Stella Adler Studio and Lee Strasberg Institute. He has taught Acting at the University of Southern California and the Stella Adler Institute. Mr. Cacheiro's long association with USC included a year as the interim Head of the MFA Directing Program.
