Dana Manno graduated from Adelphi University with her Bachelors of Arts in 1971, and her Masters of Arts in 1982. She first began working with Katherine Dunham, and then as a member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Ballet Company. She has worked closely with the Negro Ensemble Company as an actress, choreographer, and composer. Additionally, she has worked as a songwriter, director, and choreographer at New York’s La Mama Theatre, which led to her nomination for the ADELCO Award for the plays “Daddy” and “Song For My Sisters”. In January 2003 she performed as a solo vocalist and choreographer/featured dancer at New York’s Apollo Theatre. She is a former faculty member at Adelphi University and the New School University, Fashion Institute of Technology, and the Harkness Dance Center at the 92nd Street Y.
