Carole Fréchette

She has worked extensively in Quebec theatre since 1974. Her Governor General’s Award-winning play Les Quatre Morts de Marie was first presented in English translation as The Four Lives of Marie, garnering eight Dora Award nominations and winning the 1998 Chalmers Award for Best New Play. Her other plays include Les sept jours de Simon Labrosse and Jean de Béatrice, which opened at Theatre d’Aujourd’hui in March of 2002. Fréchette has also written lyrical novels for young readers, among them DO pour Dolorès, translated into English as In the Key of DO.
