This company was founded by Miguel Ponce July 1966. It was the first artistic theater company to produce plays in Spanish in Miami. Their founding letter states the group's ten goals, some of which are:
- to rescue Cuba's rich theatrical tradition, especially Cuban Popular Theater
- to promote the theatrical production of all Spanish-speaking countries
- to promote the staging of experimental and vanguard theater, as well as the world classics
